Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
There is another prize for the year group who has grown a potato that looks most like Mr Apps or Mr Manclark.
Children in year 2 were visited by some kind people from GIST Ltd as part of their Child Road Safety Programme.
One of their lorries was brought onto the school field to deliver the road safety message to give children a practical demonstration of stopping distances and driver ‘blind spots’. The children were given an opportunity to explore inside the cab of the vehicle and get to see first hand the view from the driver’s seat.
A huge thank you to the presenters from GIST.
Drapers Mills Primary Academy celebrated National Smile Month with a National Smile Afternoon which took place on the field on 15th June.
Huge thanks go to the Margate Task Force, the Lighthouse Project, Tesco, the Mobile Dental Van, Margate Football Club and many more community projects for making the afternoon fun and informative.
Having being rained off yesterday, Key Stage 1 finally managed to have their sports day this morning. The sky was blue, the sun was shining and many parents turned up to watch their children take part in a number of running, throwing and jumping events.
All children put in a lot of effort and showed many of our school values whilst trying to win the Key Stage 1 Sports Day shield. Everybody deserved to win for the effort they put in and many stickers were handed out to all participants. However, there can be only one winner of the shield, which was won this year by Northern Ireland.
Thank you to all parents who came along to watch their children - they really did enjoy their mini-Olympics.
The rain thankfully stayed away and Key Stage 2 were able to take part in their Sports Day this afternoon. Organised brilliantly by our own Mr Stacey and the wonderful sports coaches from Premier Sports, the children took part in many running, jumping and throwing events - their own little Rio Olympics (without the Copacabana!)
Special thanks must go to the amazing Sports Ambassadors from Chatham & Clarendon Granmar School, who helped run many of the events.
Eventually winners, England, edged out Scotland by only 8 points in a hotly contested afternoon of competition.
So many parents came to watch their children, which is always lovely to see.
Much fun was had by all.

On Friday some of our Year 5 children were given the fantastic opportunity to visit Chatham House Grammar School in Ramsgate for a music workshop. The children were able to learn how to play a variety of unusual instruments, such as Djembe drums, xylophones and the steel pans (this also involved a little bit of dancing which caused much hilarity!). We also used a computer programme called MAGIX to compose our own tunes.
Congratulations to our Attendance Award winners this week.
