  • Head Boy / Head Girl elections

    Tue 30 Jul 2019

We are delighted to announce that the children in school have elected Sam and Anastasija to be our Head Boy and Girl for the next academic year.

Jacob, Tahir, Dominik, Grace, Priya and Sibel have all been elected as School Ambassadors.

Well done to all twenty six children who put their names forward for the positions and showed they were capable of leadership around school.

Their skills will be put to good use next year.

We are extremely proud of them all.

  • Pfizers Donation

    Tue 30 Jul 2019

Children and staff at Drapers Mills Primary Academy were delighted with a donation from local pharmaceutical firm, Pfizer, to support an initiative to promote reading outside of school. The RED TED initiative (Read Every Day, Talk Every Day) rewards children for the number of times they read at home. When they read 50 times they collect a Red Ted, when they read 100 times they can choose from a selection of new books and when they read 150 times they collect a RED TED t-shirt. The donation of £1,000 is part of Pfizer’s community outreach programme to support local organisations and will be used by the school to ensure there is a sufficient supply of rewards for the children - ensuring the RED TED initiative can continue into the next academic year.

Vanessa Wilson, a member of Pfizer’s Sandwich Site Leadership Team visited the school to learn more about the RED TED initiative and commented, “Pfizer is delighted and proud to be supporting Drapers Mills’ RED TED initiative. It’s an innovative scheme that makes reading fun, engaging and rewarding for the children, and from visiting the school and hearing them talk so passionately about RED TED, it’s clear this is making an enormous difference to their learning both in school and at home”
