  • 'We Did It Our Way' - the Year 6 Production

    Tue 21 Jul 2015

Our Year 6 children made us very proud this afternoon when they performed their leavers show entitled, 'We Did It Our Way'.

There was singing, dancing, comedy (!!) and a lot of memories as children shared experiences of their time at Drapers Mills.

Thanks were given to Miss Field, Mrs Jennings, Mr Comber and the rest of the year 6 team for putting together such a wonderful show.

  • A Celebration of Music and Dance

    Tue 21 Jul 2015
This evening, our dancers and musicians performed in our end of year celebration of music and dance. Families were entertained with performances from our dance clubs, recorder group, choir and pianists as well as a selection of dancers from the Tivoli School for Dance who meet here at the school and include a number of our pupils.

Visitors also had to chance to look at some amazing pieces of art in our art gallery which included a range of techniques based on a range of topics covered throughout the year groups in key stages 1 and 2.

We were very proud to see the strides our children are making in the creative arts. Our musciains performed beauifully and our dancers put on a spectacular show!  Well done to all involved!
  • Polling Day - Head Boy / Head Girl

    Tue 21 Jul 2015

Democracy took centre stage today as 76% of our Key Stage 2 children turned up to vote for who they wanted to represent them next year as Head Boy and Head Girl. This was greater than the percentage of the population that voted in the recent General Election. The children listened to our candidate's pledges and then voted during their break at our Polling Station.

The winners will be announced during Celebration Assembly on Thursday morning.

  • NSPCC visit

    Mon 20 Jul 2015
Visitors from the NSPCC visited years 5 and 6 today to discuss the work of Childline. During the initial assembly, the children were shown how to contact Childline, for free, at any time day and night for confidential advice and support.  An explanation of the work of Childline was also shared identifying all the many ways in which children can be abused and neglected; linked closely with how Childline can offer help to victim's friends so that can in turn support others.

The assembly was then followed by a workshop where role play and group discussion was used to develop the ideas shared in the assembly.  The pupils were able to question and address any misconceptions they may have had and consider how important the role of Childline is to individuals all over the country.
