* I had the good fortune to be a pupil at the School between 1953 and 1959 when I was so lucky enough to have Mr. Towes as Headmaster and the very kindly Mr. Paterson as my teacher.

I look back very fondly on those days, although some of my best memories relate to food! I enjoyed my frequent visits to the tuck shop on the ground floor of the Mill and also really enjoyed my school dinners. The only bad habit I am left with is eating too fast - I soon learned that if I ate quickly enough there was a good chance of getting seconds!

I still have vivid memories of learning my tables and academically the School did me proud as I passed my 11-plus.

My only regret is that I never went back to thank Mr. Towes & Mr. Paterson for all they did for me and now, of course, it's much too late, but I shall never forget them or my many happy days at the School.

Kind regards
Brian Whitehead

* My name was Nellena Marsh and I was a pupil at Drapers Mills from 1952 - 58. It was a fantastic school. I was in Mrs Nottcutt's class in the infants and in the 4th year of juniors ( year 6) was with Mr Patterson. They were both great teachers .

* Thank you to Mary Brown nee Hyde, for these photographs from 1960/61.
