  • Summer Kitchen

    Thu 27 Sep 2018

I’m sure you have all heard about the fantastic initiative that was run from Drapers Mills during the summer by Sharon Goodyear - HERE. The Summer Kitchen achieved National Press coverage by helping to feed children and their families during the summer holiday.

Sharon, now a governor at our school, would like to start a new project and support parents to prepare and cook their own family meals. Starting on Thursday next week (4th October), Sharon will be running a FREE afternoon workshop for parents starting at 1.15pm until 3.15pm, when the children will join them to eat the food they have cooked.

The first week will be MACARONI CHEESE!!

Spaces will be limited and will be offered on a first come, first served basis. If you would like to be part of the next great thing to come from our kitchen, then please register your interest with the office.

  • Neal Foundation

    Thu 27 Sep 2018

Each year, a number of Margate schools take part in the Neal Foundation art competition. We are delighted to announce, that once again, we have been awarded joint first place! Art and creativity are at the heart of our school and having a rich arts education is vitally important for all of our children. We are so very proud of the work that each and every child created for the completion. The judges were blown away with the level of skill and creativity on display.

Head judge Marion Hitch commented "This exhibition has two powerful characteristics – the sheer volume and variety of art on offer and the regular references to universally recognised artists of yesteryear and today. These pupils have a broad, exciting and successful artistic life within its walls which happily reaches out into their local community. There is no doubt it also reaches into each child, supporting their self-esteem and sense of well-being. Well done Drapers Mills!"

  • Football - TKAT Cup

    Fri 21 Sep 2018

A massive well done to our boy’s football team for winning the TKAT Cup this evening. Playing against teams from the other TKAT schools in Thanet, they played 6 games, winning 5, drawing 1 and did not concede a goal.

Thank you to Mr Smith for the amazing work he is doing with the team.

  • Westwood Cross fire UPDATE

    Thu 20 Sep 2018

I have received communication from the local authority this morning regarding the current situation on the Westwood Cross fire.

Until we are told otherwise, we have been advised to follow the advice from Public Health England which states that all windows and doors should remain closed and that children should remain indoors at break and lunch times until advised otherwise.

Guidance also suggests that children with asthma or any other chest conditions should stay at home. Please let the school know if you choose to collect your child from school or keep your child off.

Paul Roberts, from TKAT, conducted an air quality test in school yesterday and it was well within the acceptable levels so the school environment is safe.

We will share updates as soon as we receive them.

    Mr Manclark.

  • Westwood Cross Fire - Guidance for parents

    Wed 19 Sep 2018

Please see the COMMUNITY announcement from the Fire Service regarding the recent fire in Westwood Cross.

Following this guidance, our children will not be going out at break and lunchtimes. We will, of course, keep all parents updated if we are advised of any changes.
