Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Our children went to the Polls recently to vote for who they wanted to represent them on the schools leadership team. Children in key stage 2 saw democracy in action when they cast their votes after listening to a number of prospective candidates share their ideas on how they would improve the school.
David Koloszvary and Abbie Didd were the successful candidates with Kieran Quittenden and Acshaya Gunapalasingam being voted in as their Deputies.
All four will work closely with the School’s Senior Leadership Team to give all the children at school a voice. Their first initiative was to hold a non-school uniform day where children dressed up as characters from their favourite books or European Sports Stars where they raised over £200. They aim to spend the money on more playground equipment for the children in Key Stage 2 and reading rewards for the children in Key Stage 1.
Mr Apps said that they will be an invaluable asset to the leadership team and looks forward to working with them.
Thank you to all parents and staff who contributed to our Bake Off in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. It was lovely to see so many of you in the small hall on Friday and we are pleased to say that with your help we managed to raise £74. A HUGE thank you to all who were involved.
We have introduced RED TED into Key Stage 1 ( Year 1 and 2). RED TED stands for Read Every Day, Talk Every Day and is designed to encourage our children to be reading every day at home and talking about books so that they will really begin to understand the true joy of reading.
The children were introduced to RED TED in assembly today ( Attendance Ted brought RED TED in as he was a bit shy!) and they were told just how much he loves listening to stories. The children were also told what his favourite story is. Ask your child and see if they can remember. ( I will give you a clue...... the creature has terrible teeth in his terrible jaws!)
It is important that when you have listened to your child read and had a talk about the story, that you sign their reading record book as the class teacher will be counting. Every time your child has read 10 times at home, they will get a sticker on a book mark, and after 5 stickers ( 50 reads) they will get to take home RED TED.
The deadline to complete the application form for Secondary schools is 31st October 2015.
Mrs Jennings-Payne and Mr Comber have made this fantastic video to demonstrate how our our marking policy works.
