Re: PESE (Procedure for Entry to Secondary Education)
Kent Grammar School Testing for Secondary School Transfer 2019
We have received confirmation of the arrangements for the Kent Grammar School Testing for the academic year 2018-19. Please be advised of the dates as follows:
Parents/carers are strongly encouraged to register for the Kent Test online via www.kent/gov.uk/ola. This will go live from 1st June 2018. If you register online and provide an email address you will receive your son/daughters assessment via email on 11th October 2018.
The Kent Admissions team are encouraging parents to utilise the online registration website as this will allow the process to run much more effectively. If you register online you will receive the assessment decision without having to wait for the assessment decision letter.
If you do not have online access at home, please contact our school office and they will make arrangements for you to use the facilities in school. If you wish to receive a paper registration form please contact the Secondary Admissions Team on 03000 412121 or email kent.admissions@kent.gov.uk. You can also print a copy of the form from www.kent.gov.uk/secondaryadmissions to complete and return.
Please note that registration is ONLY necessary where pupils will be seeking a grammar school place for September 2019.
If you have any questions, please speak with your child’s teacher; a member of the office team or one of the school’s Leadership Team. My email is: headteacher@dmpa-tkat.org .
We understand the importance of the decisions that lie ahead for parents at this time. Our intention is to support you and share information with you that may impact upon the decision you make. If in any doubt about anything – please ask!
Mr J Manclark
Headteacher
A great day was had by everyone.
Currently, Little Millers Pre-School takes children from 3 years of age up until they are of school age, but recently several parents have approached the Early Years leaders to ask if places can be made available for younger siblings. The nursery is going from strength to strength and was praised in the school’s latest Ofsted report which stated that:
* Adults develop warm relationships with children
* children feel safe and develop a strong sense of security in their surroundings.
* Children in the Nursery thrive in the calm, settled environment.
* Early years staff establish positive partnerships with parents.
* Parents appreciate the ‘open-door’ policy and are very happy with their children’s progress.
For these reasons and because there are spaces available at Little Millers Pre-School, we would like to hear your views about whether we should make these spaces available to 2 year olds from September 2018. This would mean that children could start nursery from the term of their second birthday.
Regulations state we must consult on this proposed change and this consultation will run from Monday 14th May to Friday 15th June 2018 and you are invited to submit comments in writing about the proposal above to Jess Wilks, Project Support Officer, TKAT, The Atkins Centre, Kemnal Technology College, Sevenoaks Way, Sidcup, Kent, DA14 5AA or by email to jess.wilks@tkat.org
Following this consultation period we will consider all comments received before deciding whether to submit an application to affect the change.
Congratulations to all of our children in Wales for winning the house point trophy this week.

Karina Hanakova from Draper’s Mills Primary, has won 1st place in the Turner Contemporary’s prestigious Art Portfolio Competition.
Portfolio is Turner Contemporary and Canterbury Christ Church University's annual art competition for pupils, students and teachers in Kent and Medway. The competition celebrates creative talent across the county.
Karina’s artwork was chosen by a judging panel from a shortlist of 110, from a record number of 1,796 original entries.
Karina was the overall winner of the Key Stage 2 category. She received her award at an Exhibition and Prize Giving Evening on 1 May at Canterbury Christ Church University.
Karina’s winning artwork, titled ‘Meat, Eggs, Dairy’, will be exhibited at Turner Contemporary and seen by thousands of visitors to the gallery over the summer.
Karina chose to approach the animal theme in an unusual way, which really caught the judges attention. Eating animals and their produce is one of the closest ways, we as humans interact with animals. Karina decided to create bacon, eggs and milk using a hand felting process and food packaging for presenting the felt in.
We are all immensely proud of Karina’s achievement and we are also pleased to have got fellow pupil Callum to the final 110. This is the second year running that Draper’s has scooped 1st prize in the Key Stage 2 category.
Next years theme ‘Art Rebels’, is sure to ignite the children’s creativity to the max!
