Good morning to you all. The Learning Team from Maidstone Museum are working from home and have been creating some fun info-activities for children. These focus on Spike, their dino mascot, and his inquisitiveness in learning about objects in the museum. They are called ‘Spikes Daily Activity’. Each activity has a selfie photo of Spike with an object, some information about the object and an activity linked to the theme. There are a mixture of activity types on their website to download.

Dear Parent and Carer,
I hope this letter finds you and your family well. During this period of lockdown we are very aware of the additional pressure on families and we've been looking at ways to support you. Managing learning at home, supporting mental health and well-being are all additional challenges in this current situation.
Starting on Thursday 30 April, in association with Action Your Potential, we are running 10 weeks of webinars for parents and students all about the amazing human brain. They're 40 min webinars with opportunities for questions at the end. Each session will end with strategies to support learning or well-being which participants will be encouraged to try out between sessions. If you can't make all the webinars, you can catch up with them via recordings which are available for a limited period of time afterwards via a website.
The webinars run between 7 - 7:45pm every week. The full programme is below. Our aim is to offer support to you and your children in learning all about your amazing brain. Each session offers deep insights into how our brain works and how to get more out of it. As the programme builds it will support you and your child to apply key strategies in the construction of a daily plan to support well-being, mental health and maximise learning. You can access the sessions on a phone, tablet or laptop.
If you would like to sign yourself and your son or daughter up to these totally free webinars then click on the link. Action Your Potential will only use your data for the purposes of informing you about this programme and will be in touch explaining how to join the first webinar shortly. We take your privacy seriously and comply with all UK General Data Protection Regulations. A copy of TKAT privacy notice can be found here.
Yours sincerely

Be A Neuro-Ninja Programme for Parents, Carers and Students at TKAT Family Of Schools
We’ve learnt more about our amazing brains in the last 10 years than we have in the last 10,000. This is stuff none of us ever learnt at school. Once we understand our amazing brains we can help our children to become neuro-ninjas, living inside their brains in ways that help them get more out of learning and life every day.
Q: What’s a Neuro-Ninja?
A: Someone who lives in their brain knowing how it works and how to get the very best out of it. By learning about our amazing brains we can help our children become unstoppable in pursuit of their dreams.

Dear Parent / Carer,
Firstly, I want to thank you for your contribution to the national response to the Coronavirus pandemic. For the majority of you, being at home with your child(ren) and supporting their continued learning, alongside your own work and wellbeing, is a significant challenge in what are both unprecedented and worrying times. However, we do know that this action is helping to reduce the spread of the virus and helping to save lives.
You will be aware that last week the government confirmed that the lock down will continue for at least another three weeks. However, alongside this news is constant speculation about when and how schools across the country will be reopened. We have no information about what plans the government are considering once the lockdown is eased or when that might be.
Re-opening our school will be complex, even if that is partial re-opening. For our school to re-open, clear guidance on social distancing will be required as well as ensuring that the majority of staff can return; we are aware that for some their personal circumstance means that they are required to ‘shield’ or live with family members who are shielding, which may mean that they need to socially isolate themselves and not return to work.
To support all parents at this difficult time, yesterday the government launched a series of measures for families to assist with remote education, wellbeing and general support. The guidance can be found here alongside a whole list of on-line resources for you to use. If your child(ren) has SEND need, support can also be found in these resources.

In addition, from today, the BBC are launching bitesize daily lessons, details of which can be found here - https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/dailylessons.
As you will be aware, we are also providing home learning resources.
We are grateful for any support, both in terms of academic learning and physical and emotional wellbeing you can provide, but please do not worry about your ability to replace your child(ren)’s normal education during this time. When schools do re-open, they and the Kemnal Academies Trust will work as hard and as quickly as possible to bridge any gaps in your child(ren)’s learning.
If you have any queries or concerns please feel free to contact the school.
On behalf of our school and the Trust I would like to thank you for your continued support during this difficult time.
Best wishes.

Any families with children who are entitled to Free School Meals (FSM) need to be aware that the FSM vouchers are no longer being issued by the school. Parents who have provided the school with an email address will now be receiving vouchers by email directly from the government at the value of £15, per child, per week. Unfortunately, we have been advised there is a delay in sending these vouchers out. As this is a Government run initiative, the school has no control over the timings.
We will keep parents updated as soon as we receive any information from Edenred – the company who are sending out the vouchers. In the meantime, please keep checking your emails because we are aware that there are some parents who have started to receive them.
When you do receive the vouchers, they can be used in a number of different stores directly from the device you receive your email on and do not need to be printed. Unfortunately, the school is now no longer able to print the vouchers off for collection at the office. If you have any questions which cannot be answered by the link below, then please give us a call.
https://www.edenred.co.uk/reward-recipients/Free-School-Meal-Vouchers/
In addition, there has been some confusion as to who may be entitled to receive these vouchers.
Although all children in Reception and Years 1 and 2, currently receive FSMs, this does not necessarily entitle families to receive FSM funding. All children in these year groups receive a free lunch every day as part of the governments Universal Infants Free School Meal scheme (UIFSM) which provides every infant pupil with a free lunch, regardless of their background or family's financial standing. FSM funding is given only to those parents whose incomes have been assessed by the Local Authority with only the children from the lowest earning families receiving the additional FSM funding.
Therefore, only families who have successfully applied to receive FSM funding because of their low incomes, will receive the FSM vouchers. If you feel you may be entitled to FSM funding, you can apply online at https://www.kent.gov.uk/education-and-children/schools/free-school-meals
We will always be available to support our families in need.
