• Key Stage 1 Outdoor Learning Day

  Years 1 and 2 took their learning out onto the field today.

  

• First Aid training

  At Drapers Mills we offer children in Key Stage 2 the opportunity to learn a practical life skill that will stay with them for life. First aid equips our children with the ability to save a life or render first aid in response to an emergency. Our children have been following the Teach the Difference approved schools programme provided by St John Ambulance. The course has been split into three levels based on skill difficulty and stage appropriateness.

   

  We are proud to celebrate that 18 children have completed their First Aid Level 1 and 16 have completed their First Aid Level 2. We anticipate that by the end of term 15 children would have completed the full programme and will be Young First Aiders and 16 will be level 2 qualified. We will be continuing this programme in September.

• Pupil Pipeline Challenge for Water Aid

  Year 3 took part in the Pupil Pipeline Challenge for Water Aid. It was a great success the children had a fantastic time and reflected carefully about the experiences of less fortunate children. They raised over £80 for Water Aid supplying 80 metres of water pipes for a village who need a safe water supply. Well done year three!!

• Japanese Student Visit

  We were very lucky to have some Japanese students spend two days with us this week. They are all trainee teachers from Chaucer College in Canterbury and have come to England to experience life here, improve their English through various subjects and learn more about teaching in the UK. They spent the mornings working with children in all year groups and ran some workshops in the afternoon where children could learn to speak some basic Japanese, write using Japanese symbols, and played some Japanese games.
