NEW end of day arrangements for Key Stage 2

With immediate effect, children in Key Stage 2 (years 3, 4, 5 and 6) are now to be collected directly from the Key Stage 2 playground.

The reasons behind the new arrangements are as follows:

• to create a safer, less congested dismissal of all children

• to create more space for parents when waiting to collect children

• to provide opportunities for staff and parents to communicate more effectively at the end of the school day

As with all school procedures, we put the safety and well-being of our children ahead of the convenience for ourselves, as staff, or parents. Although we have listened to your concerns and suggestions in how to improve our end of day arrangements, I accept that these new arrangements may not be the perfect solution for everyone. A great deal of time and discussion has taken place to try to find the best practice but we realise that with a large school there may be teething problems. We will therefore trial the new arrangements until February half-term and would welcome any constructive feedback on how the new system works for you and your child.

We hope that once the new arrangements are in place and established, you will see an improvement not only in safer dismissal but also in communication between parents and staff.

If you have any particular concerns about the new arrangements please do not hesitate to speak to me or contact me via the school office.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
