Welcome Back Year 3
This term we will be basing all our learning around Ancient Greek mythology.
In literacy we will be using 'Theseus and the Minotaur' as a stimulus for our 'defeat the villain' stories.
In maths we will be exploring number. We will also be having daily maths basic skill sessions called 'maths meetings'.
In our Wider Curriculum lessons, we will be doing history, science, DT, PSHE, Art and will be introducing Spanish to the pupils.
Our PE/Games lessons will be on Thursdays. Please send your child in wearing their PE kits (no uniform needed on Thursdays).
Please provide a kit suitable for the weather on that day and a water bottle.
Our PE colours are black bottoms and a red top.
In wider curriculum we have been learning all about Ancient Greek life. We had a look at their famous theaters and the masks the actors wore. In DT we will be planning, reviewing, making and evaluating our own mask designs.
Non-Fiction - Instructions
For our non-fiction writing we have exploring writing instructions. We started off by learning instructions on 'How to defeat a gorgon'.
Then the children innovated this with some deadly pieces of writing on how they could defeat a different mythological creature.
Now we are linking our literacy with our wider curriculum and writing instructions on how to make an Ancient Greek mask.
We will add photos here once the pupils have made them.
We innovated our story by adding in a section where the main character explores a scary labyrinth. What could they see, hear, feel, smell or taste?
