Year 2

Kent County Council- Road Safety Key Stage 1 Lesson

An interactive, educational road safety lesson for children in years 1-3.

School closure information

On this web page, you will find work that your child can do every day. If you do not have access to a printer, please use the sheets on a tablet/computer/phone so your child can use the workbook we have provided them with, or paper that you have at home.

As well as the work provided, please ensure that your child is reading every day. This can be a book from home and please continue to write in their reading records so they can still be working towards earning their rewards.

You may find that we have supplied worksheets that cater for a range of abilities, in these cases, please choose the one that you think best suits your child.

We have also sent your child home with the log in information for Numbots, please continue to use this every day. Should your child forget their login - please contact the team.

If you have any further questions, or would like some more work for your child, please use the following email address; year2@dmpa-tkat.org or simply fill in the contact form, located below.

All three of us teachers will have access to this email account and promote open communication with all our parents and carers and shall respond accordingly.

There is an expectation that children should be completing this work and you will find that this will help them stay occupied throughout the day and therefore help to keep them calmer!

Stay safe and well and we look forward to seeing you all as soon as possible.

The Year 2 Team.

Mrs Roberts, our SENCo, has uploaded some really useful information and resources which we would like to direct Parents/Carers to.

Fractions song

In maths we are exploring fractions.

We are using the film Shrek for our wishing story writing. We will be focusing on using adjectives, prepositions and adverbs. We will be using these writing tools to describe a setting in detail.

In DT we had to solve a bulb circuit challenge before the Zorgons arrived!

We have been using the film Zathura for our non-fiction writing. The pupils enjoyed the challenges faced by the brothers. Dodging meteor showers, evading a defective robot, getting rid of the zorgons and helping a stranded astronaut.

We enjoyed watching the pantomime - Beauty & the Beast

In geography we have been exploring map features and creating map keys using symbols.

Year 2 Addition jottings no crossing tens

We use jottings to solve addition calculations.

The Wizard of Oz

We have been using The Wizard of Oz for our portal story writing.

We watched PIXAR's Knick Knack Snowman before discussing how we could escape a snow globe.

Makaton Karaoke - DONDE ESTA SANTA CLAUS?

We have been learning Christmas songs for our Christmas Carol Cafe. We really enjoyed learning the sign language along to this Spanish/English song.

We have been learning how to solve multiplication calculations.

A fun song to help introduce the concept of multiplication.

In history we have been learning all about King Henry VIII. We started gathering facts from when he was a child right up to the end of his reign. We used facts and debated whether he was a hero or a villain.

In science, we looked at the food groups contained in a balanced diet. We compared this food to the types ate by the royals during the Tudor times.

We ended our topic with a fantastic Tudor Banquet. We ate meat, pottage, drizzled honey over everything and even had some ginger beer.

Our topic question: Was Henry VIII a hero or a villain?
