Watch this clip all about his life and his successes ...

Make a mind map of everything you have learnt so far.


Now make a fact file using headings, subheadings, key facts and information and technical words.

Use this template as an example of what your fact file will look like. Of course, you could use your own imagination and create your own project on him!

Now that you have learnt about Isambard Kingdom Brunel, we would like you to choose one of his famous designs to build yourself.


Watch this clip to remind yourself of why he was famous and what for.


Now it is your turn to design and build something. Choose from any of his famous designs and have fun. Remember to plan it fist using the planning sheet, include diagrams, labels and a short description of what it does.

Use this website to help consolidate what you have learnt about Brunel. We will revisit this topic in a few weeks, so the more you know now, the more you will remember next time!

Here is an art lesson based around the influential Victorian artist, William Morris. Become familiar with his work by looking through the document. You may have seen some of his designs before or at least similar ones. They tend to be repeating patterns.

Dr Barnardo Research Activity


Use the internet, non fiction books or ask your family to research the following information about Dr Barnardo and his important work. (You may know some of these questions already! Let's see what you can recall)


1. Where did Dr Barnardo live?

2. What job did he have?

3.Why did he set up his own school?

4. Who was Jim Jarvis? Why is he so important?

5. Where were the children living?

6. Why did Barnardo start his fund? Where did he get the money from?

7. What do you think the children thought of Dr Barnardo?

8. Who looked after the children in the homes?

9. What year was the first home opened?

Rewrite the story of Dr Barnardo. Remember to use your literacy skills. You could add pictures to your story to help sequence the events.

  • complete the online activity after each video (you will find this if you scroll down under the video clip).

Your task:

Make a board game for you and your family to play. I have given you some examples here for ideas.

It must include the digestive system and could be quite fun racing to the loo!

Have a look at the Eatwell guide to familiarise yourself with all the different food types.

  • Make notes on each food type - what sort of food is included? what does it give your body? etc.
  • Make your own plate of food using the food types.
  • Draw and label your plate of food with all the things it provides.
Make a food diary for the week. Either print this off or make your own diary. Remember to include the food group and what nutrients it gives you and what it provides to keep you healthy.

Work through these worksheets to show what you have remembered about each food group.


You can now make a balanced lunch or dinner for your family (Make sure an adult helps you in the kitchen!)
