Alice in Wonderland
The children came into school dressed as the characters from the story. Look at their amazing efforts. In Maths they explored making amounts using teacups and combining quantities. Some children looked at doubling the cards and finding arrays using the term 'groups of'. They also worked hard to create their own clocks for the rabbit.
In the afternoon they made their own hats in preparation for the tea party. They enjoyed a few snacks with their friends and enjoyed imitating the story based on what Alice would see when she arrived. I must say that all the children demonstrated fantastic manners.
This week we imitated the story of Jack and the Beanstalk using a story map with pictures and actions to help us remember what happens next in the story.
Try to retell the story of Jack and the Beanstalk to your grown up. Make up your own actions!
In maths mastery we explored numbers within 15 and learned to identify what number comes before or after a given number number. The children used loose parts and natural objects to make different representations of a given number.
How many different ways can you find to make the number 15 using the ten frames below?
