New arrivals: If your child is new to the school and English is not their first language, we are here to help them learn basic vocabulary, understand the school routines and help them settle into Drapers!
Your child will be with us every morning for Literacy and Maths and will then go back to their main class in the afternoon. We teach children from Year 1 all the way to Year 6, which means they will make lots of friends and settle in quicker .
Homework:
We will be sending out homework every week to review the topics covered. Please help your child with this and return to us after the weekend.

Our Stars of the week are: Hristina for always following the school rules and having excellent manners and Sara for trying to turn her behaviour around in the Shooting Star classroom.
In English, this week we continued to work on learning about winter, describing the weather and thinking about what activities we do during this time of year. Can you remember any winter sports?
What is this one?
It is sledging!
Children: What are the family doing here?
The Shooting Stars thought about what they like to do when the weather gets so cold and one thing they decided on was eating a nice winter soup! So we made one! We learnt how to use instructions and describe each step using time connectives ('First, Next, Last..') The children washed, peeled and chopped lots of vegetables for this delicious soup. Here are some pictures!
We also went to do some learning in the ICT suite. The children practised naming and identifying what clothes you need in summer vs winter.
Children: What clothes are these children wearing?
Practise using the winter vocabulary we've been learning by playing this game:
