Good morning Little Millers,

We are now in week 6 of Term 6. Well done for all the home learning that you have done over the past few months. You are all little superheroes. This week I want you to look at the super hero SUPERTATO and complete some activities about the story. If you had a super power what would it be?

We would normally have a Sport's Day so this week I would like you to think about what events there are at a Sport's Day and see how many you and your family can complete.

Please find this weeks activities below.

Keep up the great home learning - and remember to send those photos and comments to the nursery email.

Keep going !

Number song 1-20 for children | Counting numbers | The Singing Walrus

Good morning Little Millers!

As we move in to week 5 of the last term you should feel very proud of yourselves for working so hard at home to keep your little ones occupied, happy and safe. We are really missing seeing all of your little ones still home learning and bet they have all grown up so much in their time away.

Please continue with trying to watch our songs (days of the week, counting to 10, shape song and jolly phonics phase 2)

As we get closer to the older children starting 'big' school please try to encourage independence in their day. For instance - dressing and undressing themselves, tidy up their own toys/activities, putting their own shoes on and off, using a knife and fork ( cutting up food independently), toileting themselves. Now would also be a perfect time to begin writing their name independently ( if they cant already) and also to share a book everyday ( to prepare them for home readers).

Please find attached this weeks suggested activities and resources. If you haven't responded to my emails this week please do, it would be lovely to hear from you and see what activities you have been up to.

Any problems or if you need a chat please don't hesitate to contact me.

Keep going !

Good morning Little Millers,

I hope everyone is keeping safe and happy.

Did everyone see and hear the thunder and lightening at the end of last week ? Did any of you get to go splashing in your wellies? I have put an arty rain activity on the plan this week. Let's hope we get some lovely sunny weather this week and get to go out and exercise, but don't forget what you learnt last week about how to keep safe in the sun. I would love some photos of what you manage to do in the sun. Please find the suggested activities for this week here. Please try to keep finding opportunities throughout the day/week to stretch that vocabulary and opportunities for counting/reading/colours etc.

If you need any help or fancy a chat then please email our nursery email and I would be glad to support you.

Keep going ! Have a fabulous week !

Hello Little Millers,

I hope you all had a lovely week off last week and enjoyed the sun safely.

As we move into the final term - our topic is FOOD. Normally this term starts the preparation for school readiness. If your child is starting school in September I will suggest independence building activities to practise.

This week get them to practise getting dressed/undressed themselves. If clothes are inside out - teach them how to put them back the right way. Can they put their shoes on and off themselves?

Lastly, if they are not completely toilet trained - work on completing this and being confident in pulling trousers up and down independently.

Please find this weeks activity suggestions below. I will email you all this week and check in on how you are all getting on. I am here if anyone needs any help or just a chat.

Keep going ! You are all doing brilliantly!

Thank you.

Good morning Little Millers,

I hope that you are all still smiling and keeping safe and healthy. We have some lovely sunny weather on the way so make sure you get out and release some of that energy on a long walk or socially distanced run on the beach. I will email you all again sometime this week and check in on all of you. It has been lovely to see the work and fun that some of you have been doing.

We are still focusing on Change as a topic and recapping Jack and the Beanstalk this week.

I also would like you to continue to promote positive well being where possible. This week there is a kindness challenge to help us all try and focus our energy in making other people as happy as they can be in this situation.

Please email if you need any assistance or just fancy a chat.

We are all in this together !

Keep going, you are all doing great!

Mad About Minibeasts

A rhyming book about various creatures that you might find in your garden by Giles Andreae and David Wojtowycz

Good morning everyone,

I hope that everyone is still keeping safe and staying at home. The topic is still CHANGE and you will find this weeks plans under this message. As I have said before don't worry if your child doesn't want to do any of these activities. Go with your child's if necessary, just try to incorporate as many opportunities to practice speech (new words and in full sentences), counting, reading etc.

My children are struggling slightly this week, emotionally so if you are finding the same with your children perhaps try to add a little structure to their day to help them feel more stable, and maybe try to continue to use some of that positive well-being comments suggested in last weeks intro.

If you have any concerns at all or want to chat please email me. I have loved seeing all the photos that you have sent in, please continue to do that where possible and to send me any amazing speech that your child may be saying.

Please remember to continue to practise the songs we sing frequently - days of the week, shape song and jolly phonics song.

Good morning!

I hope that everyone is keeping safe and healthy. Thank you so much to all the parents that have sent emails and photos of what you have been getting up to. It's been lovely to see some of your faces. I have missed seeing you all.

As the weeks go on I know that the children must be missing the routine of school. Remember this is an unusual situation for us all and we as a school know that it is hard to replicate school life at home. Keep doing what you are doing and having as much fun as possible learning through play. Try to give a little structure where possible for instance - free play then an adult led task then stop for a snack etc. Keeping a slight routine helps a child know what to expect and may help improve behaviour.

Your child's well being is far more important than academic level. With this in mind try to use some of these phrases where possible -

  •  You did a great job.
  • You make me smile.
  • You give the best hugs.
  • That was a really kind thing to do.
  • What a great idea.
  • You make me laugh.
  • I am proud of you.
  • I love when you are around.
  • You have a big heart.

Please find this weeks plans. Remember these are just suggestions. It is a 4 day week this week due to the Bank Holiday Friday.

Keep sending photos I love to see them !

Keep smiling you are all doing brilliantly.

Oats, Peas, Beans and Barley Grow | Song for Kids by Little Fox

Good morning everybody.

We hope that everyone is keeping safe and well at home. We really miss seeing you all and cannot wait to see you again. Please send in some photos and notes to our class email about what you are getting up to at home. It would be lovely to see all the exciting things you are doing and to see how much you have grown. Last week I suggested a few apps you could be using at home. Please have a look at those. On the app store there is the IXL site which under the Reception tab at the top has some games that would be beneficial to play such as counting games and number recognition. For those children beginning school this September there are some great games out there that support reading such as Reading Eggs and Teach your Monster to Read. Also any opportunity you have to sing and watch Nursery Rhymes together would be a brilliant thing to do. These songs not only give an understanding of rhythm and rhyme but also expose your child to a wide number of words.

Any problems or if you just want to chat do not hesitate to email us.

Keep going! You are all doing a brilliant job!

Thank you.

Good morning everybody,

I hope everyone is keeping safe and healthy. Please find attached some activities that you could do with your children this week. Please take any photos and send to me using our class email Remember to scroll down to last week for the youtube videos that the class is used to singing daily. Please try to take advantage of any free aps that could support your child's learning. On the app store there is a jolly phonics app which has the first set of sounds for free which would be suitable for the children starting school this year. These sounds are the ones that the class have been learning.( s,a,t,p,i,n) There is also free reading on the Oxford Owl website and Phonics Play.

Please don't panic if your child doesn't want to do the activities I have suggested. The important thing is for them to be happy and relaxed at home in this time of change and uncertainty. Just keep encouraging speech and try to build learning in to the play they choose.

Well done Mums and Dads!

I look forward to seeing some of your learning soon,

The Shapes Song

Good Morning everybody!

I hope you have had a lovely Easter and that the Easter Bunny brought you lots of Easter eggs. My children and I found lots of eggs and have eaten a lot of chocolate. I am missing all of your lovely smiley faces. I hope that you are all trying your hardest to listen to your grown ups and are helping around the house. I know that you are really good at tidy up time at Nursery.

Adults - Please find below this weeks planning ( 2 days ) and some additional documents and youtube links you will find helpful. I will, again add the songs that we usually sing on a daily basis to really try and retain the amazing progress the children were making prior to the school closure. Please remember to take photos and make notes of any WOW moments your child makes. We have a class email now - up and running so please use this email to send me your photos and comments.

Let me take this opportunity to say home learning can be tricky and I know from personal experience with my own children. Don't force learning. Learning through play is crucial. Find ways to bring counting, or phonics in to what your child wants to do. Cook, do puzzles, paint pictures and have fun. My planning is just there to guide you for some activities I might have chose to do with them.

You've got this !

Join me every day next week for a home workout

Starting Monday 23rd March I'm going to be hosting a free workout aimed at kids LIVE on my YouTube channel.

With the schools closed and with us all spending more time at home, it's more important than ever that we keep moving and stay healthy and positive.

Exercise is an amazing tool to help us feel happier, more energised, and more optimistic.

The workouts will be fun and suitable for all ages and even adults can get involved.

You don't need any equipment, just tune in to my YouTube channel at 9am each morning for a 30-minute, fun workout.

One more thing! I really need your help to spread this message. So please please share this with everyone that might like to get involved, and together we can help keep the nation moving 🏻

Lots of love, Joe x

Nursery Parents - To see what we have been learning previously please go to the separate Little Millers Nursery heading on this website.

Following our school closure there will be suggested activities you could do at home with your child. There will also be relevant youtube videos that the children are used to joining in with on a daily or weekly basis. Please try to frequently watch these over the coming weeks to ensure that all that fabulous learning that has been done is not forgotten.

Thank you

Days of the Week clap clap! To the tune of the Addams Family

Everyday we practice singing the days of the week.
What day was it yesterday ? What day will it be tomorrow ?

10 Little Numbers

Practice your counting up to 10 and back down to zero. Can you count using your fingers?

Challenge - Can you count out 10 of your toys?
Can you write any of your numbers ?

Shapes Song 2

Practice singing our shape song. Parents don't worry too much about your children knowing the larger side shapes ( we just like singing this song)
Don't forget to shout out the names of the shapes you see flying about at the end of the song.

Challenge - How many sides does the shape have?

This song is perfect to help both you and your child learn the sounds that the letters make which in turn will help them with learning to read.
Our nursery children have been practising the letters in this song from a-j. We have learnt the actions. Please pause each letter to practise learning the actions too and support your child. The actions really help them to remember the sound the letter makes.

Week beginning 23rd March. Suggested activities for your child to complete.
