YORK - Mr Askew

Class teacher: Mr M Askew

Class teaching assistant: Mr L Davies

 

PE days are Tuesday and Thursday.

 

Homework will be set on Fridays and will expected to be handed in on Wednesday's. Homework consists of weekly spellings, timetables and daily home reading.

Literacy

This week we have been planning our own journey stories, we started off by gathering ideas and have then mapped out our ideas. We have explored the use of inverted commas and apostrophe for possession.

 

Maths

We have continued to learn about ones, tens, hundreds and thousands and then moved on to adding and subtracting numbers larger than a thousand, including bridging and breaking up tens.

 

Roald Dahl Day

Well done to all of you that dressed up for Roald Dahl day this week, you looked great! We celebrated by learning about The Twits, we made our own version of his beard and ate all of the weird and wonderful food that was in it!

 

Spanish

A specialist language teacher came in to teach Spanish this week, we learned numbers to 10 and had a great time with her.

Literacy

This week we have started to learn about out new book 'A walk in London' by Salvatore Rubbino. We have started by learning by story, putting actions to it and imitating the writing of it. Throughout this book we will be focusing on using speech marks correctly, the children are trying to do this in their own writing.

 

Maths

In Maths, we have started by learning about numbers greater than 1000, the place values of digits in the th, h, t, and o columns, we have ordered numbers greater than 1000 and added and subtracted in multiples of 10's, 100's and 1000's.
