TERM 1 INTRA-HOUSE COMPETITION

KS2 were fortunate enough to participate in a 'Extreme Rounders/Kwik Cricket Intra-House Competition' this week. Some fantastic technical and tactical skills were on show and all the children participated respectfully and fairly.

It is great to see that the school values are being demonstrated through sport as leadership, endeavour and enjoyment were paramount throughout.

Congratulations to the Winning Houses:

Year 6 - Northern Ireland

Year 5 - Wales

Year 4 - England

At Drapers Mills, we believe that sport is a key area of the curriculum where it enables children to develop their physical, psychological and lifestyle skills.

Drapers Mills Primary Academy continues to build its reputation by establishing strong and successful links through outside agencies.

Drapers Mills are proud members of the Thanet Super Passport Programme as this allows the school to be 'up to date' with the latest PE networking information and competitions.

As a Super Passport member, our school is benefiting from:

  • Being able to access to over 80 organised sporting opportunities (competitions and festivals) in a range of sports with other schools in the area across the school year. (Basic Passport).
  • Subject lead support for the School PE co-ordinator. There are six termly networking meetings for our subject lead to attend which provide on-going professional development, opportunities for sharing current practice, resources & ideas; support with issues &/or challenges in PE and school sport, and finding local solutions. These meetings range from 2 hour twilight sessions, to full afternoon sessions for really some in depth focus on specific themes and a chance for us to really collaborate with other schools.
  • National membership to the Youth Sport Trust, British Gymnastics and new this year the Association for Physical Education. We are receiving national insight on PE, sport, health, education and policy matters as well as different opportunities from funding partners. It also now enables our school to access health and safety advice from afPE.
  • The opportunity to work with other schools on working towards awards such as YST Quality Mark, the School Games Mark, and the afPE Quality Mark which focuses on outstanding PE provision, this will help our school review our provision as well as celebrate our achievements in PE & sport.
  • Receiving up to date information, direct to our email in-boxes.
  • An end of year report, outlining the support given to our school over the year.
  • Access to a range of bespoke & local opportunities for our staff, from the bespoke menu including:
    • Cluster training
    • Whole School training
    • School Support
    • Community Links 'The Thanet Primary Association for School Sport' (PASSPORT) represents every primary school in the District. That's 36 primary schools, including special and private schools.

What a fantastic event! We have received so much positive feedback from parents, carers/guardians who attended this well contested day!

Congratulations to Wales and England who won Foundation/KS1 Sports Day and KS2 Sports Day respectively.

All children demonstrated their technical and tactical skills (learnt in PE lessons), as well as the school values, when they participated in a variety of field and running events.
