The week started with our Cap'n Mr Manclark talking to us all 'bout the school values, and boy did you show 'em...

Until next time shipmates, keep searching for the perfect sunset!
As Cap'n Squarkeyvoise said, the week started with an assembly about the school values from Mr Manclark and we can proudly and gladly report that these have been displayed to epic proportions in a week full of challenge and change...

HELLO YOU PARROTERIANS, WE ARE NEARING THE END OF OUR JOURNEY...
Before you know it, you'll be in year 6!!
Year 6, where they get you ship-shape and ocean voyage ready!
As my old friend Shakespeare would say...
PANIC YE NOT ME OLDE CHUMS...YE NEW LETTERS OF LEARNING HATH FINALLY ARRIVED
Captain Ivor Skwarkeevoys says...
Shakespeare was actually a friend of mine!
We met in London in 1603, the year the first queen Elizabeth died.
He wrote Macbeth using a quill made from a feather from my tail and when he was short of an idea or two he would ask me to pop onto his shoulder and tell him stories I had heard from my travels around the world...
A fine fellow indeed...

Did you know??
There are over 360 species of parrot.
The first person in the class to hand in a list with the
names of twenty or more species will win an incredible -
and possibly edible - prize.
On Friday morning we had the opportunity to explore St Peter's Church and graveyard.
We looked for the tombstone of Richard Joy, a local folk hero and infamous character known for his strength, kindness and...smuggling!
He was born in St Lawrence Ramsgate in 1675 and led a life full of adventure and misadventure!!
Visit the site below to find out more about smuggling and the 'KENTISH GIANT' Richard Joy... http://www.kentresources.co.uk/owl.htm
Unfortunately we lost our attendance crown this week... #ShockNewsBadTimesParrotsLoseTheirCrownInShockAbsenteeDebacle!!!!!!!

Hello to all the parents, carers and adults of Parrot's class,
Can I firstly say that after just a day with your wonderful children I know it is going to be a great year for Parrots. They are polite, wonderfully kind and filled with an eagerness to learn. I have already seen some lovely illustrations of holidays and favourite books, heard children talk enthusiastically about their time at Drapers Mills and their time off from Drapers Mills! ...and read some lovely 'Postcards' detailing the fun and presents they had over the Christmas break.
I really look forward to meeting you all over the next few weeks and if you have anything you wish to discuss with me the new end of day arrangements make this easy...so please come and have a chat at the door and introduce yourself.
Can't wait to get rolling along an exciting learning journey with a wonderful class...
We will keep you updated!

Real stories of evacuation, families and children's experiences of WWII...
Week beginning 16th November 2015
This week we had a special Take one Composer day on Friday in which we completed work linked to the short animation called the Piano. The animation is based on a Grandfather playing the piano and having Flashbacks to different periods of his life from a small boy with a hobby horse to going to war through to having a wife and family of his own.
Week Beginning 9th November 2015
Its been a busy week in Parrots Class. We have taken part in a remembrance day assembly having first investigated some of the people who have fought in many wars including the First and Second World War. Did you know that the youngest boy to sign up for WWI was 12 years old? He was sent home after 6 weeks of service when his true age was discovered.
We have also begun our rehearsals for the years 5 and 6 Christmas nativity. The production will be ready for an audience by the end of term.
As a reward for winning the Attendance Trophy again, we had some time with the Speed Stacking cups. Some of the class are already better than Mr. Barnes, who's been a Speed Stacker for nearly 10 years! Some of the children also decided to see how high we could build a wall of cups. They worked as a team and managed to build it right up to the ceiling! Great teamwork, Parrots!
Welcome to Year 5!
The new Parrot class children have all settled in well after their summer break. Mr Barnes and Mrs Jeavons are looking forward to a fun-filled year of learning.
During our first two days back at school, we all contributed to a Class Contract that we have all signed to say we agree with the promises. What do you think of our contract?
Please could all parents return the photograph permission forms as soon as possible. This is so that we can use photos of the children enjoying their learning. Thank you!
