A year full of creative opportunity for children. Inter school
challenges for Upper juniors and workshops for years 3 and 4 culminating in an Open Day in the summer. All staff committed to encourage individual skill and talent through cross-curricular projects and after school clubs in Design technology like the Kit Car Challenge.
Every year Drapers children get an opportunity to participate in a technology challenge at Hartsdown. Working in small groups and through a combination of innovative design and technical knowledge they make models for the competition. Years 1 and 2 made a model lego town, Years 3 and 4 made clay masks of rainforest creatures. Upper juniors got a chance to make puppets for the Prince of Wales’ foundation.
Children are encouraged to be creative through termly projects in Design and Technology. Skills learnt are transferred into practical activities. Links with Hartsdown Technology College and the Prince’s Trust have been highlights of the year.
Our aim will be to provide every child with the skills and opportunity to shine.in this area of the curriculum. In the pipeline are exciting new workshops in textiles, layering and collage making along with design technology days to showcase the talents within school.
